Award
won by Rocky Face Rangers Camp 1948, Taylorsville NC

Each year the N.C. Division, SCV, gives the Col. Leonidas LaFayette Polk
Newsletter Award for the best local camp Newsletter. Camps wishing to
compete for this award, must submit a minimum of three(3) hard copies of
its newsletter to the Division 2nd Lt. Commander by March 15.

The newsletters are judged on the following: Layout, Content, Prose, and
Pictures. The judging is done by an independent entity,
UDC, BATTLE OF BENTONVILLE CHAPTER 818, MOORESVILLE, NC.
A special "Thank You" to Ms Kay Jones of chapter 818 for all of her hard
work each year.

The Lt. Col. Tazewell Lee Hargrove Distinguished Camp Award is given to
the camp that accumulates the most points throughout the year ( April 1st
to March 31st). Points are assigned to different activities carried out by
members of camps during the year. Camps wishing to compete for this
award should document all of its activities throughout the year. Names of
members participating along with dates and locations should be
maintained and this information will be copied to an
application at the end
of the year. Applications are mailed to all camps in early spring and must
be completed and mailed to the Division 2nd Lt. Commander:

Deadline is April 15, 2008.

Points are assigned to the various activities such as:  Erecting grave
markers, 50 pts. each, sponsoring a Confederate Banquet or Ball, 15 pts.
each, Parades displaying colors, 5 pts. each and cemetery cleanup and or
maintenance visits, 25 pts. per visit and other activities receive points.
Camps wishing to compete for this award should maintain accurate
records listing members  participating along with dates and locations so
that the info can be transferred to the application. The camp with the most
total points wins.
